Studio notes / The gondola

Two characters.
One workflow.

The old guard and the new machine, sharing a cable car. A studio experiment in character consistency, physical comedy and AI direction.

01 / Character direction

Give the model a cast.

Turnaround sheets establish the wardrobe, proportions, face and props before the scene is generated. The same references stay attached to the shot.

02 / The actual Comfy workflow

References in. Direction through.

The original accepted film used three reference images. The new fight adds a fourth: the matching interior. Separate cast, exterior and interior references feed one Seedance generation node, then Save Video. A muted first/last-frame branch remains in the working canvas for comparison.

03 / Assembly inside Comfy

Close the loop.

The accepted edit combines five timed sources: 5.5 seconds of the original fight, the six-second corrected ejection, 2.5 seconds of aftermath, a four-second sitting bridge and the ten-second delayed return. Five trims feed four joins and Save Video inside Comfy.

Compare the 24-, 26- and 28-second loop tests ↗

The accepted 28-second film above passed dense join review, technical audio checks and repeated normal-speed playback before promotion. Earlier 24- and 26-second cuts remain available for comparison.

04 / What we’re improving

Make the movement read.

The new take restores the comic fight and doorway ejection. The next beat makes the loop part of the joke: the robot settles down, then the cameraman returns to start the rivalry again.

Revised scene reference / generated in ChatGPT Images. The cable and suspension are established before animation.
  1. Establish the hanging cabin travelling along its cable.
  2. Fight for the filming angle; the robot sends the cameraman through the doorway.
  3. Give the robot a beat of false peace. Reveal the cameraman clinging to the outside rail, then returning to the cabin.

The earlier twelve-second draft remains above for comparison. The accepted 28-second film preserves the opening camera position, props and cabin geometry while turning the restart into the final joke.
